We Have Rehabilitated, Prosecuted Over 200 Criminal Cases, Zamfara Anit-Thuggery Commandant

The Commandant Zamfara State Anti-thuggery Mohammed Bello Bakyasuwa, said that the state own security organization have rehabilitated and prosecuted over 200 criminal cases with the support of the government and other sister security agencies.

Bakyasuwa who took charge of the agency barely six months ago, noted that the security outfit was recently passed into law by the state house of assembly.

He explained that since the creation of the security agency by the government that the state has witnessed relative peace. Adding that a lot of political thugs, phone snatchers, bandits and other criminal elements have vacated the state since it began operations.

Bakyasuwa, further said that although the job is tough but however emphasized the need for strong corporation and support from the citizens of the state.

“I want to let you know that we have rehabilitated and prosecuted more than 200 cases.within the shortest period I assumed office as the Commandant of this agency with the support of the government and other sister security agencies.

“Criminality, snatching of phones was rampart. These boys usually come to the state during electioneering period so that they can be used by politician to cause political havoc. But as I speak to you we been able to chase them out of the nocks and cranny of Zamfara State. This is the reason why you people can come to Zamfara State comfortably”, he said.

The Commandant maintained that the agency usually faces difficult situation in terms of dealing with the sponsors of this criminal elements especially the politicians.

According to him, the agency has been able to arrest some of them and they are now good citizens and also gainfully employed.

“I can tell you that we have made some of these bad boys to become good citizens and also gainfully employed”, he said.

Speaking about Government support for the agency, Mr. Bello, said that the Executive Governor of Zamfara State Mohammed Bello Matawale, has been supportive to the agency but calling on more efforts from the government.

“As we speak, Governor Mohammed Bello Matawale, have done excellently well in terms of supporting this agency but we are still asking for more support both from the government and private individuals to ensure that Zamfara State is safe for everybody”, he added.
