The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has hailed the safe return of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State’s Orire area on May 15, 2026, bringing an end to weeks of harrowing uncertainty for families and the wider academic community.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party commended the military, police, and local intelligence units for their tactical precision, resilience, and seamless synergy throughout the operation.
The APM further lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his exemplary leadership and responsiveness, stressing that his administrative backing and close collaboration with security agencies proved pivotal to the victims’ safe recovery.
Whilst celebrating this gratifying development, the party cautioned that the protection of educational institutions must remain paramount. No Nigerian child or educator, it argued, should pursue knowledge under constant threat. The APM urged all tiers of government to build on this success by deploying more robust, proactive security measures, particularly in vulnerable communities.
The party also expressed solidarity with the rescued hostages and their families, wishing them a full and swift recovery as they embark upon the essential process of healing and rehabilitation.
