In the wake of mounting challenges, the Youth Progressive Party (YPP) has raised alarm, declaring the current hardships in Nigeria as an existential threat.

According to Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins, the National Publicity Secretary of the YPP, the party expresses deep concern over the relentless hardships endured by Nigerians, attributing them to decades of insensitive and visionless leadership.

The YPP highlights the adverse effects of hastily implemented policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the fluctuation of the naira.

These decisions, made without proper analysis or consideration of conditions, have exacerbated poverty levels and eroded the purchasing power of millions of Nigerians within a short span of nine months under the President Bola Tinubu-led APC government.

With Nigeria’s inflation soaring to an unprecedented 29.9% and the Naira’s value plummeting to nearly N1700/$, the YPP warns of an imminent convergence of Nigerian citizens in facing severe economic predicaments.

The party underscores that unless addressed promptly, these challenges could escalate into widespread unrest and potential anarchy.

The YPP places accountability on both federal and state leadership, particularly highlighting the role of governors in perpetuating local-level corruption and inhibiting grassroots development.

The party asserts that the current crisis is a culmination of years of impunity and neglect of democratic principles, urging for a collective reflection and multi-stakeholder intervention.

In calling for urgent action, the YPP advocates for a radical overhaul of Nigeria’s governance structure, including constitutional reforms to decentralize power, streamline governance costs, enhance electoral transparency, and address resource management issues.

The party stresses the imperative of political will and collaboration among all stakeholders to navigate Nigeria out of its current state of emergency.
