The Southern Kaduna Youth and Students Forum (SKYSFOM) says it is committed to promoting peace and civic participation to entrench good governance in the zone.
Shedrach Danladi, SKYSFOM National President, stated this at the inauguration of the forum’s national secretariat in Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area.
Danladi explained that peace and participation in democratic processes were central to the growth and development of any society.
He called on Southern Kaduna students and youths to continue to exhibit unity of purpose towards the realisation of the forum’s goals and objectives.
“Let us put our hands together as we forge ahead to build a better Southern Kaduna for ourselves and future generations.
“In the business of developing southern Kaduna, every young person is a shareholder in the enterprise,”  Danladi added.
He decried the high rate of youth unemployment and the dwindling economic activities in Southern Kaduna, calling for greater synergy amongst the stakeholders to overcome them.
“These issues demand that we step up our advocacy and ensure our voices are heard by policymakers, government officials and the general public at large.
“We call for synergy among relevant stakeholders, including representative bodies, civil society organizations, governments and private sector players.
“We believe through effective partnership and coordination, we can find sustainable solutions to the challenges facing Southern Kaduna today.
“As a forum, we will continue to play our part by going beyond just rhetoric to take purposeful actions that will positively impact ourselves and our communities,” he stated.
Other speakers at the event described the inauguration of the secretariat as a significant milestone.
They stated that the youths were the greatest asset of any nation, hence the need to support them to achieve their full potential. (NAN)
