Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has urged citizens to show compassion and unity in supporting the state’s ailing deputy governor, stressing that the matter should be approached with humanity rather than constitution approach.
Recalled the state deputy governor have fallen ill and absent from offuce for over seven months, the governor will addressing the public on growing concerns over the deputy governor’s prolonged absence, Kefas explained that he fell ill while serving the state on official duty.
He described the situation as “a human matter” and emphasised the need to balance constitutional provisions with moral responsibility.
Drawing from his military background, the governor spoke of esprit de corps — the spirit of solidarity — and quoted both the Bible and Qur’an to reinforce the moral obligation to care for one another.
“Our Deputy Governor served this state with loyalty. Now, in his moment of need, it is our turn to stand by him,” Kefas said, urging prayers and support for the deputy governor and his family.
He assured the public there is “no hidden agenda” in the state’s handling of the situation, adding that if constitutional action becomes necessary, it will be taken appropriately.
“For now, our duty is clear — to care, support, and let compassion lead us,” he concluded.
