A popular content creator and skit maker, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie has hinted that women should try to share the house rent bills with their husbands.
Kiekie said this while sharing her experiences about stardom after marriage on Toke Makinwa’s podcast show titled, “Toke Moments” on Friday.
Kiekie is known for churning out amusing content with gesticulations and dance to crack her fans up.
The content creator said she started living with her husband when they were dating after her rent expired.
“When I was dating my husband, my rent expired in September and we were going to get married in January, so I didn’t bother renewing my rent. I just moved into his place.
“And also we had already done our introduction in June. So we lived together for about four months but the truth is that he was always busy just like I was.”
Speaking about why most women are not respected in their homes, Kiekie maintained that sharing the rent fees with men will bring some sense of responsibility and will make the men stop calling the house theirs.
She queried, “How can you be living in a house and you are not paying rent?
“You can do some other things as the man, in fact, fly me to Dubai or Barcelona, and buy me a Fendi bag on my birthday but I will be living in the house without paying rent? It is not possible.
“So that when we want to fight, you will carry the chair, and I will carry the table or any other thing because we are both paying house rent. We will share everything equally, you can’t tell me to ‘get out of your house,’” she added.
The content creator likened the process to getting a friend who is enjoying the benefits of staying in the house without sharing bills with the person.
She further said she split all the bills with her husband ranging from nanny bills to dry cleaning services.
Kiekie got married to Shonaola Ilori in February 2020 and they both have a child together.
