Intelligence Official: Iran’s Claim To Mediterranean’s Eastern Basin Exposed

Published

By Henry Gabriel

Avi Melamed, a former Israeli intelligence official, has revealed that recent threats made by Nasrallah highlight Iran’s aspirations to control the Eastern Basin of the Mediterranean Sea.
In an email to Elanza News, Melamed sheds light on the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Melamed, who has held significant positions in Israeli intelligence and served as a negotiator during the intifadas, emphasizes the significance of Nasrallah’s comments.
According to Melamed, these remarks not only reflect the Iranian regime’s ambitions but also indicate their intention to target Cypress.
“Nasrallah’s comments today are a clear representation of the Iranian regime’s claim to the Eastern Basin of the Mediterranean Sea and their focus on Cypress,” Melamed shared.
While Nasrallah spoke the words, the true author behind them resides in Tehran, Elanza News gathered.
This move by Iran comes after years of failed Western policies in dealing with Iran’s hegemonic plans, which have caused instability throughout the Middle East. Additionally, Iran’s support for the Houthi rebels poses a threat to trade and global commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
“Now, with Hezbollah’s involvement, Europe’s natural gas supply chain in the Eastern Basin is also at risk,” Melamed said.
Melamed warns that unless the West changes its approach and directly addresses Iran, Tehran has made its intentions clear.
He told Elanza News that the Iranian regime has telegraphed its plans, and it is imperative for the international community to take decisive action.

As tensions continue to rise in the region, the implications of Iran’s claim to the Eastern Basin of the Mediterranean Sea are significant.
Elanza News reports that the world watches with concern, hoping for a resolution that ensures stability and peace in the region.
