Cross River State Triumphs at Prestigious All-women Interstate Debate

Cross River State has proudly emerged victorious at the recently concluded All-Women Interstate Debate, a landmark event dedicated to advancing women’s intellectual capacity and leadership in Nigeria.

The debate, themed “Promoting the Intellectual Capacity of Women for Better Political Participation,” was jointly organized by the African Mothers Initiative (AMI) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and the Office of the Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Her Excellency, Bishop Dr. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu.

Ambassador Mrs. Margaret Mkpanam, Founder and National Coordinator of African Mothers Initiative, commended the Cross River team for their exceptional performance and applauded all participants for their dedication and eloquence.

“This victory is a celebration of women’s brilliance and resilience. We are proud of the Cross River team and look forward to an even more impactful debate next year,” she remarked.

Leading the triumphant Cross River delegation was Hon. (Amb.) Patricia Iya Godwin, Vice Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area Council, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and partners.

“This platform has not only amplified the voices of women but also showcased the depth of intellectual talent we have in Cross River State. We are deeply grateful to our First Lady for her tireless support and commitment to women’s advancement,” she stated.

The winning team also featured prominent women leaders, including Dr. Amb. Mrs. Affiong Ugbaja, National Vice Chairman of AMI, and Amb. Mrs. Josephine Ujbe, AMI Coordinator for Cross River State. Their participation exemplified the state’s unwavering commitment to nurturing women’s intellectual growth and political participation.

Amb. Mrs. Josephine Ujbe highlighted the significance of the victory, describing the event as:

“A golden opportunity to project the intellect, resilience, and vision of Cross River women to the national stage.”

This historic win underscores Cross River State’s leading role in promoting women’s empowerment and its dedication to building a future where women play a central role in shaping the political landscape.
