Chris Musa, the minister of defence, has directed the service chiefs to visit the north-west and north-east to rejig military operations.
The directive came during a meeting on Wednesday at the ministry of defence, where Musa met with service chiefs to discuss security challenges in the affected zones.
Timothy Antigha, the media adviser to the minister, told TheCable that the service chiefs are expected to report their findings after their visit to the security-challenged geopolitical zones.
In recent weeks, there has been a spate of attacks by terrorists, with military bases often targeted and several personnel killed.
On Monday, fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) killed a commanding officer of the Nigerian Army during another assault on a military facility in Kukawa LGA of Borno state.
The next day, troops of the Nigerian Army repelled an early-morning attack by suspected ISWAP fighters on a military base in the same area.
About a week earlier, suspected fighters from Boko Haram and ISWAP attempted to attack military positions in Ngoshe, Gwoza LGA of Borno state.
The Nigerian Air Force said more than 50 of the suspected terrorists were killed in air strikes.
