Professor Kailani Muhammad, Director General of the Confederation of APC Support Groups, on Wednesday dismissed reports alleging that he had dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Kailani described the claims circulating on social media as false, malicious and politically motivated, insisting that he remained a strong pillar of the party.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, the APC chieftain said his recent comments calling for national reflection had been deliberately twisted by some elements within the party.
He said, “Because of my outspokenness and my call for national reflection, some elements within our own ranks have resorted to cheap propaganda and malice.
“They are circulating rumours across social media and political circles claiming that I am no longer with the APC or that I have decamped to another party. This is an utter lie, born out of pure wickedness and political desperation.
“I am a pillar of this party, and I am not going anywhere.”
Kailani also rejected allegations of religious bigotry levelled against him following his remarks on claims of Christian persecution in Nigeria allegedly raised by the United States President and members of the American Congress.
According to him, his comments were made in the interest of peace and national stability.
“My only offence is that I courageously stated the hard facts behind the allegations raised by the U.S. President and members of the American Congress regarding claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria,” he said.
He added that his call on the Federal Government to critically examine the allegations was aimed at preventing the country from sliding into deeper crisis.
Kailani maintained that the Confederation of APC Support Groups remained committed to the success of the ruling party and the administration despite what he described as lack of recognition for members’ contributions.
He said, “We did not fight for a temporary reward; we fought for the progress of Nigeria, and we remain committed to seeing this administration succeed for the sake of our people.”
The APC stalwart stressed that genuine loyalty required speaking truth to power, warning that silence in the face of worsening national challenges would amount to betrayal.
