Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Martins Iluyomade, who briefed journalists on Monday, said operatives recovered large quantities of fake premium local and international alcoholic beverages, alongside bottling equipment, packaging materials, and counterfeit labels. The suspects have reportedly made confessional statements admitting to the illicit operation, and all seized items have been secured as exhibits while investigations continue.

In a separate enforcement action at Oke Arin Market, the agency evacuated over 450 cartons of salad cream that expired in 2024 to prevent consumer exposure. The owner has been summoned for questioning, and several shops stocking unregistered or banned products have been sealed.

Mr Iluyomade, who also chairs the Federal Task Force, reaffirmed NAFDAC’s unwavering commitment to public health through sustained surveillance and enforcement. He noted that recent convictions had been secured, with more cases pending in court, and urged all operators dealing in regulated products to comply fully with NAFDAC regulatory requirements.
