Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, a Kaduna lawmaker and son of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has struck a defiant tone following his father’s detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), declaring that his family fears nothing and that the security agency ought to be the one alarmed.
Speaking shortly after the ex-governor was granted bail set at N100 million, the younger El-Rufai dismissed suggestions of anxiety over his father’s condition, insisting he is in good health and has met all bail requirements.
“I don’t fear. Mallam has his bail conditions set, he’s in good health, so I don’t know what this whole fear thing is about,” Mohammed said.
In a direct warning to the DSS, he added: “Whoever thinks something would happen to Mallam wrongly, we dare them. So, there is no fear. I am an El-Rufai, there are no fears. Let justice prevail.”
The lawmaker further expressed full confidence in the legal process, stressing that his father has complied fully with all bail terms. He also offered a broader observation on Nigeria’s changing political climate, stating: “The country has changed, and that’s my opinion.”
His remarks come amid growing public concern over the former governor’s health and the circumstances surrounding his detention, despite his compliance with bail conditions.
