The Member Representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Gabriel Saleh Zock, has flagged off the distribution of twelve trucks of fertiliser to farmers across all wards in his constituency.
The intervention, which was launched on Thursday at Sabon Sarki, cuts across party lines, with beneficiaries drawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party, among others.
Zock said the initiative was a deliberate and timely effort to boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security as the rainy season peaks.
“Farmers are in dire need of inputs this season to ensure good yields,” the lawmaker said during the symbolic handover.
“This intervention is aimed at empowering them to achieve that goal.”
The fertiliser distribution was formally launched with representatives of farmers’ unions, religious leaders, and traditional rulers receiving initial allocations. Zock charged the distribution committee to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries promptly and transparently.
In addition to the fertiliser programme, the lawmaker also announced several forthcoming empowerment packages, including ₦200 million earmarked for youth and women, ₦100 million for religious leaders, an undisclosed sum for traditional rulers, and a scholarship scheme targeting 1,000 students in the constituency.
Zock, who was praised by community members and stakeholders during the event, assured that the fertiliser initiative would be sustained on an annual basis for the duration of his tenure.
“This is not a one-time gesture. As long as I remain in office, I will continue to support our farmers, empower our people, and ensure development reaches every corner of our constituency,” he said.
The move is seen by many observers as an inclusive and non-partisan approach to constituency development, especially given the current economic hardship affecting farmers nationwide.
