For Shehu Dikko , Chairman , National Chairman, National Sports Commission NSC, he has proved beyond all reasonable doubts , as a seasoned sport administrator and manager of high calibre, hence his recent appointment as super Chairman , National Sports Commission NSC , and the scrapping of Nigeria Football Federation NFF , an indicator that he manages the entire football arm of Nigeria sports and a non designated Minister of Sports.
Less than one year in office with appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda in October 2024, to take over both local and foreign management of Nigeria’s football , a feat he had achieved less than twelve months .
Deploying his versed and age long experience in sports management at the announcement of his appointment, Shehu Dikko without further delay swung into action through the organization of the National Sports Festival NSF in Abeokuta, abandoned many years ago by the defunct Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
The reactivation of the National Sports Festival NSF under the new leadership of the National Sports Commission NSC, brought back to life both elementary and intermediate sporting activities in the country that was long in comatose many years ago.
The well attended National Sports Festival organized few months into his leadership of National Sports Commission NSC brought alot of competition among the 36 states of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Under his leadership, he has promised to revive both local , national, international and intercontinental games so as to place Nigeria at the comity of other countries ,with highest priority in sporting activities.
With Shehu Dikko, the usual boardroom politics of sporting activities, nepotism, favoritism, sectionalism and high impact of man no man or woman no woman prevalent in the Nigeria’s sporting arena had been exterminated in the game of sports in the country.
Less than many months after the successful hosting of the National Sports Festival NSF held at Abeokuta, the newly appointed National Sports Commission’s NSC Chairman , Alhaji Dikko Shehu had broken another unique and major records through the just concluded 10th Women African Cup of Nations WAFCON , were Nigeria’s contingent won this year’s edition by defeating the Morrocan on Saturday to clinch the coveted trophy that had become of international, inter- continental and National outlook that attracted recognition from top government officials in the country and beyond.
The international game and unique performance by Nigeria’s female footballers hosted to a grand reception on Monday by the President and his wife , Oluremi Tinubu has galvanized the efforts been put in place by the super Chairman , National Sports Commission NSC, Shehu Dikko in recent times .
Few months into sports administration and management in Nigeria, it is obvious of a new dawn in sports development in the country, leaving both male and female fooballers, Falcon and Super Eagle a better chance of winning more trophies with a well grounded administrator.
For Shehu Dikko, the new Chairman , National Sports Commission NSC, a new leadership laced with wisdom and vision to transform sports in the country has just begun.
