Senior Pastor of Power City International Ministry, Abel Damina, has stated that President Bola Tinubu was not chosen by God, asserting that divine selection of leaders is no longer a practice.
Speaking as a guest on the Mic On podcast hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloye, Pastor Damina explained that God has relinquished the responsibility of choosing leaders to the citizens of each nation.
“God doesn’t choose leaders anymore. He used to choose leaders before, but he doesn’t anymore,” Damina said during the interview.
“He has given the responsibility of choosing leaders to the citizens of a country. So, Nigerians choose whoever they desire to rule them.”
Addressing a question about biblical references suggesting no leader governs without God’s consent, Pastor Damina clarified that this does not imply divine selection.
Instead, he said, “What it means is that God gave man the authority to determine who rules them. God doesn’t select. God doesn’t say this is going to be the president. God doesn’t do that.”
When asked if God is aware of governance and its outcomes, Damina affirmed that divine awareness exists but emphasized human accountability.
“God has given man the authority to determine who rules him and what the outcome of their rulership is,” he added.
