The Kano State Government has denied claims that Governor Abba Yusuf ignored the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, during the Hawan Nasarawa at the Government House.

The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, on Monday.

Tofa said the reports are untrue and lack any factual support, warning that they could cause unnecessary tension.

He explained that it is customary for governors to pay homage to the Emir during Sallah.

This year, the Eid-el-Fitr celebration coincided with the annual strategic meeting of Nigerian governors, requiring Yusuf to be away from the state.

The governor reportedly informed the Emir directly and instructed that the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, along with other senior officials, receive the Emir on his behalf at the Government House.

The statement added that Yusuf attended the Eid prayers led by the Emir and also participated in the Hawan Daushe at Gaya Emirate.

He had made arrangements to personally welcome the Emirs of Rano, Karaye, and Gaya.

Due to the scheduling conflict, other senior officials stood in for him at certain events.

At the time of the Hawan Nasarawa, Yusuf was in Lagos for an official meeting with other progressive governors.

The state government reassured the public that relations between the administration and the Emirate Council remain friendly, based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to peace and development in Kano.
