Tinubu Summits 28 Names To Senate For Confirmation As Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have submitted the names of 28 people to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The the constitution of Nigeria provides that each of the 36 states and the federal capital territory is entitled to a minister. 

The president also have the discretion to appoint six more ministers in the six-geopolical zones of the country. 

Even though the President only presented 28 names, it means that more states have not been captured in the present list. 

The names that made it to the first batch of Tinubu’s ministerial list are: Abubakar Momoh,; Amb Yusuf Maitama Tuga; Arch Ahmad Dangiwa, Barr Hanatu Musawa and Chief Uche Nnani.

Others are: Dr Better Edun, Dr Doris Aniete Uzoka; David Umahi, Wike, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, Eperipe ekpo, Nkiru Onyejiocha, Hon Alubunbi Tunji Ojo, Hon Stella Okotete, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Dele Alake, Leteef Fagbemi, Mohammad Idris, Olawale Edun, Waheed Adebayo Adelabo, Mrs Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, Ali Pate, Prof Joseph Ustev, Sen Abubakar Kyari, Sen John Enoh and Sen Sani Abubakar Danladi. 

While journalists were waiting for Senate President Godswill Akpabio to announce the communication between the executive and the legislative branch, Senate leader, Bamidele Opeyemi, rosed through order 1a and 1b and order 12:1i which specify that former speakers will be admitted into the chamber.

Immidiatly, former Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila who is the Chief of staff to the president was ussered into the Chamber. 

The immidiate past House of Representatives Speaker, Gbajabiamila, who brought the communication instead of the special assistant to the president on national assembly matters, handed the list over to the Senate President. 

Reading the list, Akpabio said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is requesting for the confirmation of the 28 ministerial nominees. 

The Senate President said Tinubu disclosed that additional names are still coming to the red chamber adding that the Senate should screen and confirm the 28 nominees. 

Akpabio said since they don’t have all the committee, they will subject the 28 nominees to the committee of the whole, meaning, the ministers will be screen in the chamber.
