Alhaji Aminu Alkali, the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, resume office in Jalingo on Tuesday after an eight-month absence. Sources confirmed that Alkali arrived at Yola Airport from Abuja and was escorted to his official residence at the Government House in a convoy of four vehicles.
A brief video circulating on social media showed Alkali in his office, where he reportedly met with senior officers. An official from the Deputy Governor’s office, speaking anonymously, noted that Alkali’s return was unannounced, and he only stayed briefly.
No official statement has been issued by the state government. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Agbu Kefas, Mr. Yusuf Sanda, said he had not been formally informed of the Deputy Governor’s return but acknowledged seeing the video. Similarly, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, Senior Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the Governor, declined to comment, stating that only the Commissioner of Information could provide an official statement.
Alkali’s prolonged absence was reportedly due to an undisclosed ailment. Further details are awaited from the state government.
