As Taraba State celebrates its 35th anniversary, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Babangida Nguroje, has called on all stakeholders to prioritise unity and peaceful coexistence, declaring that the bonds uniting the people far outweigh any divisions.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and Deputy Director of Parliamentary Mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 campaign organisation described Taraba as a state brimming with potential—from its tropical climate and strategic position as a gateway to international trade, to its abundant energy, human and natural resources. He stressed that the state’s enduring peace and stability have been instrumental to its survival and progress.

In a statement marking the anniversary, Nguroje commended Governor Dr Agbu Kefas, former Governors Jolly Nyame, the late Dambaba Suntai, Darius Ishaku, and past military administrators for their unwavering commitment to the founding fathers’ vision, which has cemented Taraba’s reputation as a proud emblem of cultural diversity and harmonious coexistence.

He acknowledged the significant strides made under successive administrations and praised traditional institutions for their role as custodians of the state’s cultural heritage.

Nguroje reaffirmed that the foundations for economic prosperity laid by the current administration, and being sustained across all sectors, are non-negotiable and will remain indelible in the state’s history.

He urged all citizens and friends of Taraba to embrace a positive mindset as the state commemorates this milestone, and to build upon its legacies with renewed vision and conviction. Above all, he insisted that collective identity must take precedence over personal interests.
