Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate for Taraba State, has been named the ‘Most Humanitarian Personality of the Year 2026’ at the World Widows Day commemoration in Abuja.

The accolade, conferred by the International Association of World Peace Advocacy Network (IAWPA)—a participant in the United Nations Global Compact—recognised his sustained interventions for widows, women, orphans, and youth, alongside his broader contributions to peace and community resilience.

Popularly known as ‘Danji SS’, the former House of Representatives member was specifically cited for his people-focused initiatives during his tenure in the National Assembly. His empowerment schemes, which featured skills acquisition programmes and microcredit facilities, directly benefited hundreds of vulnerable residents across Taraba State.

The award ceremony took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, drawing representatives from NGOs, peace advocacy bodies, and women’s organisations. Centred on the theme, “Restoring Hope and Dignity to Widows for a Peaceful Society,” the event underscored collective efforts to combat gender-based violence and foster social stability across Nigeria.
