The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar Saturday turbannned Chief Ambrose Onah as the new Ada’Idoma (Sarkin Idoma) Sokoto.

Declaring The courier
Ñ Ilo in his prayers, prayed God to graProtection and wisdom to the Sarkin Idoma Sokoto to lead his subjects well. He also urged his second in Command, the Alapa K’Idoma Sokoto, Chief Bartholomew Eluma to support for the Idoma to ensure success of his reign.

Giving his advise before the coronation, the Sultan represented by the Ciroman Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar declared his support for all resident community traditional leaders in Sokoto, saying they cherish and respect everyone.

“As we turban you today as the Sarkin Idoma Sokoto (Ada’Idoma), we hope and pray that you ensure the sustainance and continuation of the
cordial and good relationship we enjoy.

“I have known Idoma people to be very good and caring. I have some of them as friends. Especially, the former President of the Senate, David Mark. I was a honorable commissioner at the National Assembly during his time. And one of my nephew’s, Senator Maccido, was Senate Committee chairman of appropriation then.

“You now have access to associate with the Sultante Council and all the traditional rulers. I am a bridge between you and Sultanate Council”.

Also recognized was the deputy Sarkin Idoma known as ALAPA K’ IDOMA, Chief Bartholomew Eluma at the palace of the Ciroman Sokoto

PROFILE OF THE NEW SARKIN IDOMA SOKOTO

The newly turbanned Sarkin Idoma Sokoto His Royal Highness, Chief Ambrose Onah was born on 1st of October 1960 in Olayega village of Opkokwu local government in Benue State.

Chief Ambrose Onah attended LGEA Primary School, known as St Peter’s Ugbokolo, Edumoga where he obtained first school leaving certificate in 1977. He proceeded to Midland Collage, Jos where he had his West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 1985.

Driven by the passion for knowledge, Chief Ambrose Onah, the Sarkin Idoma Sokoto obtained a Diploma in Public Accounting and Auditing from Talata Marafa affiliated to the Polytechnic of Sokoto State in 2005.

The new Sarkin Idoma Sokoto, Chief Ambrose Onah began his meritorious service at the Nigerian Federal Civil Service on 3rd July, 1986 as Clerical officer in the Federal Secretariat Abuja before his transfer to Sokoto in the Auditing Department of the Ministry of Police Affairs on March 30th 1990.

His Royal Highness, the Sarkin Ifoma Sokoto, Chief Ambrose Onah retired after 35 years of meritorious services and served as chairman of Edumoga Community for 16 years, served as elder and advisor as well as Alapa of Idomain Sokoto before the elevation to Sarkin Idoma, Ada Idoma Sokoto
