Published

on

The member, representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency of Zamfara State at the National Assembly, Hon Aminu Sani Jaji has been tipped to spring surprises and emerged as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Jaji, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has already declared his interest to contest for the office of the speaker of the 10th Assembly.

This is just as a a group under the auspices of Coalition of Concerned Citizens for Good Governance and Political Stability in Nigeria (CCCGPSN) has declared its unwavering support for Hon Aminu Sani Jaji to emerge as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

This is coming barely five days after a compromised faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) alongside the National Publicity Secretary of the APC announced Tajudeen Abbas as the anointed candidate.

The endorsement seems to have not gotten the endorsement of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the majority of members of the National Assembly.

But CCCGPSN in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Ahmed Saleh Junior and issued to Journalists in Abuja, said that they’ve studied the lawmaker’s progression and development in party politics and the House of representatives for a very long time and resolved that he is the best person for the job who will also spring surprises when the 10th National Assembly is inauguated.

They explained that as critical stakeholders in the Country, they’re throwing their unwavering support for the Federal lawmaker because of his vast experience in legislative business, high powered connection and network within and outside the Country

”We wish to appeal to our leaders, stakeholders and all the new and returning Members-elect to consider the choice of Rt Hon Aminu Sani Jaji in the best interest of the good people of Nigeria.

“Our coming together is rooted in the realism that we are stronger together if we want the Ruling Party to maintain its’ position so as to enthrone an inclusive leadership that will secure and unite the Assembly for the general good of the country.

“As an educated, civilized and morally oriented seasoned lawmaker with the requisite experience and strength of character to pilot the affairs of the House having served as Chairman House Committee on Security and Intelligence, during which our Armed Forces got the required financial support in their budget in order to counter the various insecurities we have in Nigeria; ranging from terrorism in the North-East, IPOb/ESN in the South-East, Banditry and kidnapping in the North-west and Militancy/oil bunkering in the South-South for the economic stability of our Country.

“Concerned with the deteriorating insecurity in Nigeria, Hon Aminu Jaji sponsored NO 1) the National Security Agencies Act Amendment bill.
No 2) The Critical National Asset and Infrastructure Centre Establishment bill.
No 3) The Explosives Act Amendment bill.
No 4) The Hate Speech Prohibition Bill.
NO 5) The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 Alteration bill.
No 6) Elite Sheriff Office Establishment bill to mention but a few.

“The 10th Assembly needs a Man with proven integrity, independent mind and detribalised Nigerian who will protect the interest of the masses and deliver dividends of democracy to the downtrodden and not a rubber stamped speaker who will be controlled by the few selfish and misguided politicians,” the group added.

Concerned Citizens Raise Alarm Over New Plot to Derail Tinubu’s Reforms on Local Refineries

Published

on

A group of concerned citizens has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to sabotage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms on local refineries.

The group, Concerned Nigerians led by its National Coordinator Obinna Francis, claims to have uncovered a sinister plot to stop the supply of crude oil to domestic refineries.

According to Francis, the plot is being orchestrated by a cabal within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), in collaboration with importers of fake petrol.

The group alleges that this cabal is seeking to undermine the government’s economic reforms, which have led to a significant reduction in fuel prices and a subsequent decrease in the cost of food items.

The concerned citizens believe that the plot is driven by a desire to return Nigeria to the era of petrol importation and the reintroduction of subsidies.

They argue that cutting off crude oil supply to domestic refineries would create a shortage of refined products, forcing the country to import fuel.

The group claims that the cabal has been manipulating officials in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to justify the planned refusal to supply crude oil to local refineries.

They also allege that the cabal has the support of individuals seeking regime change, who hope to capitalize on public anger and protests to bring down the government.

Francis added: “The members of the cabal, working through certain officials of NNPCL, have been manipulating their colleagues in the NUPRC, which has responsibility for overseeing the supply of crude oil to refineries in Nigeria.

“Their plot includes sabotaging exploration and distribution infrastructure to justify the planned refusal to cut off crude supplies. This unholy alliance has the support of individuals who have been angling for a regime change.

“Our suspicion is that while the NNPCL/NUPRC cabal pursue the monetary gains of truncating the steady supply of refined products, their political wing anticipates that a disruption in refining capacity would lead to petrol scarcity, drive fuel prices up and hike food prices with the attendant anger against the government of the day.

“They desire to weaponize such public anger into anti-government protests that would bring the administration down. We are concerned that if not stopped, this plot will undo all the gains that have been made in the implementation of economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government and doom us all.

“We are further concerned that such a plot at this critical time of our economic evolution would plunge the country into an abyss from which it may never resurface.”

The concerned citizens are calling on President Tinubu and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intervene and prevent the plot from being executed. They praised the president’s economic reforms, which have driven Nigeria towards energy sustainability and revived the oil industry.

The group warned that if the plot is not stopped, it would undo all the gains made by the government and plunge the country into economic chaos.

They urged the president to ensure that no one in NNPCL, NUPRC, or any other connected agency undermines the achievements recorded in the sector.
