The leadership crises rocking the Youth Wing of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union have been resolved ahead of the Saturday general polls following the involvement of the Mother’s day.
For about two years, the Youth Wing of the Union had witnessed internal wrangling among its members following allegations of misappropriation of funds.
The leadership tussle eventually polarized the youth wing Union with some stakeholders backing Comrd. Isaac John (Sir Jay) while others backed Comrd. Luke Augustine led-faction.
A statement issued by Reverend J.J Andrew and obtained by our Correspondent on Monday disclosed that the duo had sheath their sword and peace returned ahead of the general elections scheduled for Saturday in Kafanchan.
The Statement reads in Parts:
Good evening and happy Sunday distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen!
It is with a joyful heart I’m making this press statement as directed by the SOKAPU President to inform all esteemed members of this honorable house that the lingering Youth Wing crises have finally been amicably resolved to the glory of God.
This was a fallout of the meeting between the SOKAPU CEC members complementarity to the efforts the previous administrations have made in settling the dispute.
At that historic meeting held on Sunday, 14th January 2024, at the National Secretariat, the two (2) factions of the Youth Wing i.e Comrade John Isaac aka Sir Jay, and Mr. Luke Duniya were given quality time to narrate their sides of the story, and they did.
The CEC Representatives advised the two faction leaders to embrace peace in the spirit of brotherhood; for the good and progress of the Youth Wing and Southern Kaduna in general.
Of course, it wasn’t easy but finally, to the glory of God, they did.
Below are the resolutions from that meeting:
1. Two (2) ELCOM members of Mr. Luke Duniya’s faction to join Sir Jay’s ELCOM; while 2 CEC members will also be part of the ELCOM to supervise their activities.
2. The Youth Wing Election is to be held on Saturday, 27th January 2024.
3. Inauguration of new EXCO and handing over to take place on 17th February 2024.
4. All stipulated activities of the Youth Wing election with dates should be strictly adhered to. Anti-Union actions must be avoided by all.
5. These resolutions made at the meeting dated the 14th of January 2024 are a peace pack drafted to foster unity and progress in Southern Kaduna.
Consequently, I wish to announce that the NEC meeting earlier scheduled for Wednesday, 24th January 2024 canceled.
Meanwhile, we appreciate the efforts of all stakeholders who helped in the peaceful settlement of the crisis.
Finally, let’s pray and play positive roles in ensuring the peaceful and credible conduct of the Youth Wing election coming up on Saturday, 27th January 2024.
