The Standing Committee of the Community Development Associations (CDAs) under the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has called for strengthened unity, accountability, and grassroots-driven development across Southern Kaduna communities.
This resolution was reached during the committee’s meeting held on March 31, 2026, in Kaduna, as contained in a communiqué issued and signed by the Chairman of the SOKAPU CDA Standing Committee, Mannaseh M. Tukson.
In the communiqué, the committee urged residents of Southern Kaduna to foster peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic or religious differences, describing unity as a critical pillar for sustainable progress and regional stability.
The committee also formally distanced itself from a group identified as the “CDA Forum,” declaring it an illegal entity not recognized under the SOKAPU constitution. It maintained that the CDA Standing Committee remains the only constitutionally backed body within the union overseeing community development associations.
According to the committee, the activities of the said forum, including a recent press conference, were allegedly driven by self-interest and do not reflect the collective will of the people. It further accused the group of attempting to mislead the public in pursuit of personal gains.
Raising concerns over humanitarian issues, the committee questioned the whereabouts of an alleged ₦15 million reportedly designated for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), noting that there has been no verifiable record of its disbursement. It called for greater transparency and accountability in the management of resources intended for vulnerable populations.
On governance, the committee charged elected representatives from Southern Kaduna to intensify efforts toward equitable development across all communities. It also encouraged citizens to actively hold their leaders accountable to campaign promises, particularly in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, water supply, security, and employment.
Reaffirming its loyalty to the leadership of SOKAPU, the committee expressed strong support for the administration of Samuel Tabara Kato, urging residents to continue backing his leadership in advancing the union’s objectives.
The communiqué concluded with a call on government authorities, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and citizens to prioritize peace and security. It also advocated for the adoption of community policing strategies as a proactive approach to safeguarding lives and property across Southern Kaduna.
