The new Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Enugu, Mr Cyprian Otoibhi, has called for more synergy with the Nigeria Police Force to stem crime and criminality in the state.
Otoibhi said this on Wednesday in Enugu when he paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, in his office in Enugu.
He said that he was at the police commissioner’s office to familiarise himself with him and seek for more synergy between the two security agencies.
“I am here to strengthen the existing cordial working relationship between the corps and the police in the state.
“As the new commandant, I request for a more effective collaboration between the police and NSCDC so that we can jointly stamp out insecurity and chase out unrepentant criminals from this peaceful state,” he said.
Responding, the police commissioner assured Otoibhi of sustained collaboration and closer working relationship.
“I am assuring you that the synergy between the police and the corps remain immutable as far as public security and safety in the state are concerned,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Uzuegbu was joined by members of his management team to receive the NSCDC commandant. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
