NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar, represented by the South-East Director Walson Brandon, flagged off the exercise on Thursday. She disclosed that KSrelief had contributed a total of 24,302 baskets, which will be distributed across Anambra, Benue, Kebbi, Taraba and Yobe. Mrs Umar commended the Saudi government and KSrelief for their humanitarian partnership, particularly for communities grappling with displacement, insecurity, and economic hardship.

Receiving the items, the Anambra State Secretary to the Government, Chiamaka Nnaka, expressed gratitude to KSrelief, the Federal Government, and NEMA. She praised the agency’s collaboration with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ASEMA) on beneficiary profiling and urged residents to remain vigilant against potential flooding as the rainy season intensifies.

ASEMA Deputy Director Ndidi Omega confirmed that the baskets would be distributed across eight local government areas: Awka South, Awka North, Ogbaru, Orumba North, Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, and Nnewi South. Each basket contains a 25kg bag of rice, a 25kg bag of beans, and a carton of condiments.

Beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation for the intervention. Mary Okoye, from Awka South, said: “I am truly grateful to everyone behind this initiative.”
