The late Chief of the Moro’a people, His Royal Highness Mr. Tagwai Sambo, has been laid to rest in Kaduna.
The first-class traditional ruler, aged 88, was buried in his hometown, Manchok, Kaura LGA of Kaduna State after 58 years on the throne.
The funeral service, attended by dignitaries including Kaduna State Deputy Gov Hadiza Balarebe and former Gov Ahmed Makarfi, was held at the Manchok Township Square.
In her tribute, Deputy Gov Hadiza Balarabe commended Sambo’s commitment to peace, stating, “He was not only a custodian of our tradition but a beacon of peace.”
The late Chief’s wife, Alisabatu Sambo, described him as a humble man who always prioritized others.
She said, “His life was a beautiful journey, marked by the love he gave and the lives he touched.”
Senator Sunday Katung praised Sambo’s leadership, stating, “He would be remembered for his laudable contributions to the growth and development of Kaduna State.”
Bishop Mathew Kukah called on the youth to honor Sambo’s memory by upholding his legacy of love, peace, faith, and unwavering principles.
Former Gov Ahmed Makarfi recognized Sambo’s dedication to the people and peaceful coexistence, stating, “He was an epitome of decency, comportment, and calm.”
Elanza News reports that the late Chief, born on Dec. 24, 1936, ascended the throne at the age of 30 in 1966 after serving as the Commissioner for Works and Housing in the North Regional Government.
