A Non-governmental Organization called , Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitan has distributed over seventy ( 70 ) birth Kits to pregnant Mothers benefits free delivery kits at Mando primary health centre, Afaka, Kaduna State.

The distribution which is inline with the Rotary Child and Maternal Health month, had Executive members of the club in Kaduna in collaboration with the Mothercat, and Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ )among others present. held on 25th of July, 2025.

The President of Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolian, who is also President Rotary Action Group for Peace, Rotarian Luqman Babatunde explained that the birth kits been distributed to the expectant mothers is not for sale, it is a way of assisting them particularly the less privileged ones.

According to him, Rotary Club donation is taking place simultaneously across Kaduna, saying government alone cannot do everything, hence the needed support by non- governmental organisations and clubs like Rotary who are into service to humanity.

“You are lucky this morning that one of our major collaborator the MotherCat who is your neighbour here has deam it fit to being this outreach to your domain, that is the primary health centre in Mando to commorate the maternal and child health month by distributing delivery kits and ante natal materials, so please we hope that you will make use of this kits we are giving you today, make use of it and please when ever you have the opportunity as well to assist people, don’t hesitate to make your impact or humanity, as we say in rotary, put service above self, and that is what we preach every where we go”, he said.

Rotarian Babatunde urged the women to use the kits judiciously.

Also Speaking, the district Governor of the clubs in Kaduna, Rotarian Joy Okoro who was represented by Rotarian Victor Majekodunmi explained that it has been on record that most pregnant women who cannot afford delivery kits end up staying at home to deliver their child in a hash condition, so in line with Rotary international mandate, Rotary club of Kaduna Metropolitian and Rotary Action Group of peace taught it wise to assist the women in the area to lessen their burden.

” This is not a government gift, we must itemized this, it must be well spent out that it is the contributions of organisations and individuals that have brought this gift to you, and as a result we will want you to make use of this thing judiciously”, he said.

On her part, the hospital Matron, Hajiya Murjanatu Ahmed Rabiu explained that most expectant mothers in the hospital usually hide the free delivery kits been given to them either by government or other development partners, due to the fact that they want to collect money from the husband and when he does not give them, they will refuse to come to the hospital.

She called on the women to stop such behaviour, saying the names and phone numbers of the women that benefitted from today’s distribution are with them, they will call him and inform him that his wife was given a free birth kits by Rotary.

In a good will message, the Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki told the pregnant women that they should ensure that their husband’s sees the birth Kits as it will go along way to give them relief and make them focus on providing order things.

She cautioned the women that the kits, particularly the drugs and toiletries should not be sold out but be use by them.

Two beneficiaries who are house wives Salamatu Tijjani and Faith Tori thanked Rotary club and it’s partners for the kits and promised to use it judiciously.

Some of the items distributed include antenatal drugs, bags, toiletries,mothers pads, baby diapers, among others.

President of Rotary Club of Kaduna, Rotarian Ahmad Tijjani, along side other executive members of the club in Kaduna, representatives of MotherCat and NAWOJ Kaduna EXCO were among those present.

They encourage all pregnant woman to always visit the hospital when due and should follow every instructions given by doctors , and when due for delivery should not hesitate to go to the nearest health care center closer, for save delivery.
