Some of the workers who spoke on condition of anonymity said the actual agreement between them and the Chinese over salary payment is no longer respected as the Chinese have shown high level of disrespect by not sticking to the condition of work.

” We have demonstrated high sense of patriotism by tolerating management of China Harbor Engineering Company of Nigeria Limited who are the contractor handling the construction of the Abuja ,Keffi express way.

” Last month we had to protest and blocked the entrance of the gate because we noticed there was no willingness on their part to pay for our labour .The agreement between us and them is that on every 15th of the month our salary would be paid ,but they have failed in meeting up this agreement and extended it to 25th of every month ,yet we are not disturbed but we have also noticed that our salary apart from being paid as at when due ,they now cut our wages.

” Honestly our officials of Nigeria need to talk to this foreigners because it is becoming intolerant and if allowed in the near future they will not even pay our citizens” They lamented.

Our Correspondent was at the project side in attempt to balance this report but was referred to the Nasarawa State head quarter of the company at Nasarawa Eggon,LGA along Lafia the state capital.

China Harbor Engineering Company of Nigeria Limited was the contractor that constructed the Keffi to Lafia dualization, under the supervision of the then Minister of Works, Barrister Raji Babatunde Fashola, which is yet to be commission and the federal government again contracted them for the expansion and extension of the Mararaba ,Keffi express way flagged off by the incumbent Minister for Works, Housing, Senator Dave Omahi.

At the time of filing this report, it was gathered that despite the protest by workers, most of them have not received their salaries for the last two months, calling on the government to intervene to arrest the ugly situation.
