The FCT Police Command, through its Anti-Narcotics Unit, has carried out a series of targeted raids on known drug hotspots throughout the Federal Capital Territory.
These locations have been identified as active sites for the sale and use of illegal drugs and substances.
Raids took place in several areas, including: SDP Junction in Gwagwalada, Lugbe Federal Housing near Tipper Garage, Wuse Zone 5 by Access Bank, and AYA Roundabout.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, provided updates on the operation in a statement released on Friday in Abuja.
During the raids, suspects attempted to escape upon noticing law enforcement but were quickly apprehended.
As a result, eight suspects were arrested, and authorities recovered significant evidence, including: 100 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a large quantity of dried leaves believed to be cannabis, and a substantial cache of encapsulated illegal drugs.
These operations underscore the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
