The party announced the decision on Tuesday as part of efforts to reposition its structure in the state.

A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the move was in line with Article 29(2)(b) of the party’s constitution.

The NWC also approved the immediate appointment of a caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs in Sokoto.

Hon. Hayatu Tafida was named chairman of the committee, while Ahmed S. Pawa will serve as secretary.

Other members include Garba M. Duka, Ibrahim Dagara, Hadiza Abubakar Tambuwal, Hajia Inno Attahiru, Zayyan S. Marafa and Faisal Jubrin.

Also appointed are Hon. Kabiru Aliyu, Abdulqadir Umar Gidadawa, Zainab Nasser Dogondaji, Hon. Musa Abubakar Girkau, Mohammed Abubakar Shinko, Aliyu Abubakar Alkammawa and Hajiya Maryam Kende.

The statement said the committee is mandated to manage the affairs of the party in the state in line with Section 21(2)(a-b) of the PDP constitution.

It added that the appointment takes immediate effect.

The committee is expected to serve for 30 days or until a new state executive committee is elected.
