The Chief Executive Officer of D7G Limited, Mr Osman Chennar, has revealed plans to introduce cutting-edge defence technology into Nigeria through a newly signed partnership with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).

Speaking recently at the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Chennar described the collaboration as a turning point for Nigeria’s defence sector.

The joint venture, named DICON-D7G Nigeria Limited, aims to establish a robust military industrial complex that will cater to the defence needs of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.

Chennar emphasised that the partnership would bring “new generation technology” into the country, with a focus on ammunition manufacturing, arms assembly, and bomb production—not just for Nigeria, but for the wider African market.

“This is more than a business move. It is about building capacity, creating jobs, and ensuring Nigeria becomes self-reliant in its defence production,” Chennar said.

D7G, an international manufacturing firm, brings to the table a global network of partners and access to state-of-the-art military technologies.

DICON, on its part, contributes decades of experience in defence equipment production, positioning the partnership as a strategic balance of innovation and local knowledge.

One of the key goals of the collaboration is technology transfer—allowing DICON to absorb and develop expertise in producing modern military hardware.

Under the new arrangement, the company will design and produce small arms, ammunition, and armoured vehicles using locally developed capabilities.

The joint venture is also aligned with the DICON Act 2023, which calls for the development of a self-sufficient and sustainable military industrial complex in Nigeria.

Industry watchers say this move marks a crucial step toward reducing Nigeria’s dependence on foreign arms imports, especially as the country faces growing national security challenges.

Beyond defence, the venture is expected to stimulate economic growth by generating employment and nurturing advanced skills in engineering, manufacturing, and design.

Chennar said the new firm would serve as a platform for long-term industrial development, while also providing strategic support to regional security initiatives.

“With DICON-D7G Nigeria Limited, we are not only making weapons—we are laying the foundation for technological sovereignty and industrial excellence,” he added.

He believe the collaboration reflects a broader push by Nigeria to localise production and modernise its defence infrastructure in line with global standards.
