ABUJA —Joseph Adebayo, has said that the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) has discovered quality talents to feed the various sports national teams.

He disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium complex, Abuja.

“In terms of international sporting competition, NOGIG has discovered good hands for Nigeria National Teams in games like Scrabble, Chess, Tennis, Football and Basketball.

“We have discovered talents that can help Nigeria win laurels while competing with other countries.

“If sports were their main skill of life endeavour, they will be among the best hands we have in the country at the moment,“he said.

Adebayo said that the 19th edition of NOGIG games has been highly competitive.

He said that he cannot single out the best game in the just concluded edition, adding that athletics and football were rated highly.

The spokesman said that the games had done so much in terms of keeping oil and gas workers fit to do their job.

Adebayo said that preparations were in top gear to make the 20th edition of NOGIG coming up in April in 2026 a great event.

He said that plans are also on ground to increase gender participation in games like basketball and football.

NAN reports that the 19th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games ended on close after a colourful closing ceremony which featured March past, athletics and the final of the football event. NAN
