NAFDAC Bans Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has imposed a ban on Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which could pose a significant health risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

In a statement released on Friday and reported by TVC News on the agency’s official website, the French authority (Rappel Conso of France) issued a notice regarding the recall of the Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles.

The statement reads, “Public Alert No. 041/2025. Recall of Indomie brand noodles (Vegetable Flavour Product) due to the presence of undeclared allergens (milk and eggs).”

The specifics of the recalled product are as follows:

– **Recalled Product**: Noodles Vegetable Product
– **Brand Name**: Indomie
– **Batch**: All lots
– **Best Before Date**: 06/02/2026

The statement further noted, “Indomie noodles have become a household staple in many countries. Their popularity stems from convenience, versatility, affordability, and the comfort they bring to family meals.”

NAFDAC highlighted that the official risk of these products entering Nigeria is low due to the Federal Government’s existing ban on noodle importation, but stressed the need for increased vigilance to prevent any possible illicit entry or circulation of the implicated Indomie brand.

The agency has initiated vigilance actions to guard against the potential entry of the brand into the country, emphasising that acquisition of the product through online purchases or international travel will not be overlooked.

NAFDAC has instructed all zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct surveillance and remove the product if found within their jurisdictions.

The agency has urged distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain to avoid the distribution, sale, and consumption of the recalled foreign brand of Indomie noodles.

NAFDAC advises consumers to discard the product and refrain from consuming it, urging the public to report any suspicion of the sale of the implicated Indomie noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or contact NAFDAC at 0800-162-3322.

The agency also encourages the public to report any adverse events or side effects related to the consumption of these products or devices to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the E-reporting platforms available on the NAFDAC website.
