The Kaduna State House of Assembly has decided to prolong its inquiry into the provision of safe drinking water across the state.
This decision came after the Chairman of the ad-hoc committee overseeing the investigation in Kaura, Ikara, and Jaba Constituencies, Mr Ali Kalat, presented a comprehensive report, which was unanimously accepted by the assembly.
During the session, Mr Henry Marah, the representative of Jaba constituency, proposed the intervention of the house to ensure timely payment of salaries to employees of the State Water Corporation.
He also emphasised the necessity of reinstating the Ministry of Water Resources to offer a sustainable remedy to the water supply challenge in the region.
In a parallel development, the bill aiming to establish the Kaduna State Electrification Agency has successfully passed its second reading.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Dahiru Liman, adjourned the assembly’s proceedings until Tuesday.
