The Kaduna State Government has approved a fresh phase of road construction and rehabilitation projects across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, in a move aimed at deepening rural transformation and improving access to critical infrastructure.

Speaking after the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, said the approvals mark a major milestone in the Governor Uba Sani-led administration’s infrastructure drive.

According to him, the newly approved projects build on the achievements of the past two years, during which over 80 road projects, spanning 780 kilometres, were either completed or initiated.

“These road interventions are not only targeted at boosting connectivity across the state but are a continuation of Governor Uba Sani’s vision of rural transformation and inclusive urban development,” Baba Ahmed said.

He noted that the administration had earlier prioritised the completion of numerous abandoned road projects inherited from previous governments. These include the Rabah Road from Arewa House to Rigasa Train Station; Sultan to Surame Road in Kaduna North; Dogon Bauchi roads in Zaria and Sabon Gari LGAs; Hanwa-Yangoro in Sabon Gari; and Kafanchan Township Roads in Jemaa LGA.

The MD also highlighted the near-completion of the Kwagiri, Kussom, Wasa road in Sanga LGA, a project originally initiated during the tenure of the late Governor Patrick Yakowa.

With most of the first phase of road projects between 70% and 95% complete, Baba Ahmed said the government has deemed it timely to commence a new phase of development.

The newly approved road projects include:

1. Construction of asphaltic road from Durum to Kuruntumawa in Makarfi LGA

2. Reconstruction of Romi–Karatudu township roads in Chikun LGA

3. Construction of access road linking Kachia–Zonkwa main road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia LGA

4. Reconstruction of Kwoi township roads in Jaba LGA

5. Upgrading of Rigasa township roads in Igabi LGA

6. Construction of Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, U/Sarki, Maskawa, Dan Alhaji Road in Lere LGA

7. Construction of asphaltic road from Bassawa Junction through Unguwan Rimi to Hunkiyi Junction, connecting Sabon Gari and Kudan LGAs

8. Reconstruction of Zango Road to Asibitin Yara and Musawa Road

9. Completion of the abandoned dual carriageway from PAN Drive through Television Garage to Sabon Tasha in Chikun LGA

To support the execution of these projects, the government has earmarked N3.5 billion for compensation and relocation of services, ensuring that all affected property owners are duly compensated.

Baba Ahmed stressed that with the rollout of this second phase, every Local Government Area in Kaduna State has now benefited from road infrastructure under the current administration.

“This comprehensive approach ensures that no community is left behind in our pursuit of progress. We remain committed to building a better Kaduna for all,” he said.
