The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over the “illegal” acquisition of a 753‑unit housing estate in Abuja.
The former CBN governor pleaded “not guilty” to the eight-count charge before Yusuf Halilu, judge of a federal capital territory (FCT) high court.
Halilu granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N2 billion and two sureties in like sum.
The sureties must own property worth N2billion in either Aolsoko, Maitama or Wuse 2 within the jurisdiction of the court.
