Meribole said the move was in line with the enabling law establishing the institution.

He noted that the reconstitution is aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing the quality of medical training and healthcare services at the hospital.

The newly reconstituted board is chaired by Dr Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu, while Prof Nneka Chioma Okoronkwo will serve as Chief Medical Director.

Other members include Dr Kelechi Omende, Dr Temple Nwosu, and Dr Patrick Umezurike.

Also on the board are Prof P. E. N. Onyemachi as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Prof Gazie Okpara as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Senate Representative, and Prof Chuks Kamanu as Provost, College of Medical Sciences.

The board further comprises Dr Mrs Ifeyinwa Blossom Uma Kalu representing the Ministry of Health, Mrs Ihuoma Nwagbara as Director of Administration and Secretary to the Board, and Dr Odochi Ewurum representing the Nigerian Medical Association.

The governor congratulated the chairman and members of the board, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He charged them to “work assiduously to reposition the teaching hospital as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical training, and research.”
