The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has commenced construction on a 223-unit housing estate in Abuja’s Wasa District, marking a significant step in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to deliver affordable housing to Nigerians.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Wednesday at the five-hectare site in the Abuja Municipal Council area, is being developed in partnership with indigenous firm Green Pasture Homes.

Addressing the gathering, FHA Managing Director Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, represented by Executive Director of Estate Services Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to expanding housing development across the Federal Capital Territory and all 36 states.

Ojo highlighted recent achievements including the inauguration of Ajoda Housing Estate in Ibadan and the Express View Housing Estate in Abuja, inherited from the previous administration, while pledging to initiate new projects and complete existing ones.

The Green City Estate incorporates comprehensive amenities including schools, security infrastructure, shopping complexes and sporting facilities, addressing growing security concerns in residential developments.

The project comprises diverse housing options to cater to various income brackets:

· 80 units of two-bedroom flats
· 56 units of three-bedroom flats
· 35 units of three-bedroom terrace duplexes
· 45 units of four-bedroom terrace duplexes

“This project comprises 223 units of various house types carefully designed to meet contemporary housing needs while ensuring comfort, functionality, security and environmental sustainability,” Ojo stated. “Upon completion, the estate will stand as a model residential community that reflects the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
