Danjuma Laah, a two-term Senator, for the Kaduna South Senatorial District, has expressed that his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was motivated by the swift approval of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Laah made this statement in an exclusive interview with ELANZA NEWS in Kafanchan, the headquarters of the Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.
He remarked, “Our leaders in the PDP are not helping matters. I felt that staying any longer in the party could create significant problems, so the best course of action for me was to leave. I don’t want any issues or conflict.
“Secondly, the approval of this university, which I initiated, has brought me immense joy, prompting my departure from the opposition PDP.
” I served two terms as a Senator under the banner of the PDP, but I was unable to achieve what I should have. However, within a short period, President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, which is a tremendous advantage for us.
“The Southern Kaduna that I know, a region that I hold dear, should focus solely on the fact that 2027 is forthcoming,” Laah stated.
Commenting on the upcoming 2027 elections, he said that as a leader, the people will always stand by him, whether for good or ill, or in pursuit of any goals he aims to achieve for the benefit of the people of Southern Kaduna. He emphasised that there is no way the people could disregard him, and he is confident they will follow him.
“I won’t say no, nor will I say yes, to the possibility of contesting for the Kaduna South Senatorial seat. I am open to whatever opportunities come my way, but I am not suggesting that I am joining the APC solely for the Senate ticket; I simply feel it is time to change parties,” he added.
Laah urged his supporters to ensure they accompany him in his current political journey.
