S’East LP stakeholders pass votes of confidence on Abia governor, deputy

Stakeholders and state chairmen of the Labour Party in the South-East have passed a vote of confidence on Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, citing their commitment to strengthening the party in the zone.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué presented to the deputy governor, where party leaders commended the Abia State administration for what they described as tireless efforts in providing visionary leadership and consolidating the party’s structure.

Signatories to the communiqué include Hon. Chidiebere Darlington Anyanwu, Comrade Eze Oko Splendour, Hon. Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, Chief Edozie Ezeugwa, Hon. Chuks A. Okolo and Deacon Chuka Solomon Obaego, alongside state party chairmen across the region.

Others are the Abia State Chairman, Hon. Sir Chief Emmanuel Nwaeze Otti; Imo State Chairman, Hon. Mazi Excel Ochiama; Ebonyi State Chairman, Hon. Engr. Henry Udeh; Anambra State Chairman, Hon. Peter Okoye; Enugu State Chairman, Hon. Chief Kingsley Ugwu; and Comrade Igiri Innocent, Secretary and stakeholder from Ebonyi State.

According to the communiqué, the zone expressed “profound gratitude” to Otti and Emetu for their “tireless efforts in strengthening the Labour Party and providing visionary leadership.”

“We hereby pass a vote of confidence on Governor Dr Alex Chioma Otti and Deputy Governor Engr Dr Ikechukwu Emetu, acknowledging their exceptional performances and endorsing them for a second term in office,” the statement read.

The stakeholders also reaffirmed confidence in the party’s national leadership, passing what they described as a resounding vote of confidence on the National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, and the National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha.

They endorsed both officials for re-election at the forthcoming national convention.

On zoning within the National Working Committee, the group agreed that positions allotted to the South-East should be shared among states in the zone.

Under the arrangement, Ebonyi State is to produce the National Vice Chairman (South-East), Imo State the Deputy National Youth Leader, while Enugu State will produce the Deputy National Woman Leader.

The leaders further endorsed all serving state chairmen in the zone as consensus candidates for the upcoming state congresses, appealing to the party’s leadership to approve the agreement for effective coordination.

They also unanimously reaffirmed Otti as the party’s national leader, praising what they described as his outstanding leadership and sustained commitment to the growth of the Labour Party in the South-East.
