In a recent dialogue, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State, urged the young populace to steer clear of criminal activities and instead concentrate on personal growth.
Speaking to News Men amidst the challenging economic climate, Ogunlende stressed the importance of resilience and perseverance.
He highlighted the initiatives led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to alleviate the economic strain, acknowledging the difficulty faced by the youth.
In light of the prevailing economic hardships, Ogunlende underscored the futility of crime as a solution, urging the youth to exercise patience and maintain lawful conduct.
He encouraged them to embrace diligence and leverage the available support mechanisms such as the government’s palliative measures.
Regarding the proliferation of ‘area boys’ (agbero) in Lagos streets, Ogunlende attributed the phenomenon to the recent clearance operations beneath the city’s bridges.
He affirmed the commitment of governmental agencies, including the Commissioner of Police and environmental authorities, to mitigate this issue and ensure the safety of all Lagosians.
Through collaborative efforts, they aim to deter antisocial behaviours and enhance public security.
