The residents spoke on Friday at the commissioning of the facility at Government Secondary School Fadan Kamantan in Zango Kataf Local Government Area.

Mr. Fidelis Dodo, President of the Aghang Community Development Association, said the donation of the laboratory was a testament to Katung’s passion for the educational advancement of his people.

Dodo explained that facility was one of its kind in the entire zone.

On his part, the Chief of Kamantan, Adamu Alkali, thanked the lawmaker for intervention, noting that education was the bedrock of development in any development.

Alkali explained that the facility will go a long way in transforming the lives of the students of the community.

He called on the relevant authorities to address the shortage of science teachers in the school to ensure smooth functioning of the laboratory.

“Of critical importance to the functioning of this laboratory are science teachers.

“The shortage of science teachers in this school will hamper the goals and purpose of this lab if not urgently addressed.

“We therefore call on the relevant authorities to do the needful in addressing this shortage,” he added.

Also speaking, Mrs Patricia Damina, a zonal director with the State Ministry of Education stated that the construction of the laboratory was a legacy that will outlive the legislator.

Damina expressed confidence that the facility will translate into better internal and external examination outcomes for students of the school.

In his remarks, Katung said the gesture was borne out of his commitment to shaping and empowering young students for the future.

According to him, the world is now largely driven by science and technology and his constituency cannot afford to be left behind.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our efforts to equip and prepare our students for the future.

“The world we live in is rapidly changing, and we as a community must keep pace with it,” he stated.

He tasked the people on the need to take ownership of the laboratory to prevent it from being vandalised.
