Arsenal are just one away victory from clinching their first Premier League title in 22 years, following a narrow 1-0 win over relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Kai Havertz scored the game’s only goal in the 37th minute, heading home a Bukayo Saka corner to secure three vital points for Mikel Arteta’s side. The result takes Arsenal’s season tally to 82 points—five clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
The Gunners could be crowned champions without kicking another league ball should City fail to win their midweek fixture.
Speaking after Monday’s match, Arteta thanked the fans for their unwavering support throughout the season and expressed anticipation for the final two games against Crystal Palace and the upcoming UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Thank you. It’s an absolute joy to witness the transformation and the contribution each of you have had to turn this place into the most beautiful place to enjoy and to play our football,” he said.
“This is the soul of this football club, and each of you contributes to that. So make sure every time you step into this stadium you keep it at this standard, because it makes such a difference to all of us and to all of these players.
“I’ll see you at Selhurst Park and in Budapest. But for this amazing group of players and staff, a big round of applause.”
