APGA Unveils Afiniki Yarima as New Taraba South Senate Candidate

From Nahum Sule, Jalingo

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has affirmed Hon. Afiniki Yarima as its new candidate for the Taraba South Senatorial District, replacing Barr. Tanko Kyan-emoh ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yarima, in her affirmation speech, pledged to provide effective and responsible representation for the people of Taraba South, with a focus on road infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth employment, agricultural development and community security.

“I am one of you. I understand our struggles and share our dreams,” Yarima said, assuring constituents that she would serve with integrity, humility and commitment if elected.

She also pledged to represent all constituents irrespective of tribe or religion, while urging the people of Taraba South to support her candidacy on the APGA platform.

Yarima’s emergence also highlights APGA’s commitment to expanding women’s participation in politics and creating opportunities for competent female voices to contribute to leadership and governance.

The development comes amid heightened political activities within APGA in Taraba, where the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, has continued to intensify his grassroots engagement across the state.

Danji SS’s growing political profile, particularly in Southern Taraba and other parts of the state, has been attributed by his supporters to his grassroots mobilisation, accessibility and engagement with communities and ordinary citizens.

His political network has continued to expand beyond conventional party structures, as supporters mobilise across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

With Yarima now joining the senatorial contest in Taraba South, her candidacy is expected to further strengthen APGA’s presence in the zone and contribute to the party’s broader campaign ahead of 2027.

Yarima called on the people of Taraba South to join hands with her in building what she described as “a better Taraba South,” expressing confidence in the collective strength of the people.

“Vote Hon. Afiniki Yarima for Senate – Taraba South. APGA – the people’s progressive choice,” she declared.
