The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, had the pleasure of hosting the renowned Afrobeat Star, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, during a courtesy visit to the Senate President’s office.
Akpabio expressed his immense joy at the visit and commended Davido for his exceptional talent and the pride he has brought to Nigeria through his outstanding performances on the international stage.
“You have truly made us proud within the international community,” Akpabio conveyed his appreciation to Davido, who was accompanied by his cousins, Hon. Tunji Adeleke, son of the late Isiaka Adeleke, and Folasade Adeleke, daughter of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
During the meeting, the Senate President assured his guests of unwavering support for the entertainment industry. However, he also urged them to uphold high ethical standards and resist negative peer influence that could hinder their progress.
Akpabio emphasized, “In our administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, inclusivity is paramount. As you may have noticed, we work together across party lines for the benefit of Nigeria. Our common goal is the interest of this great nation that has shown you immense love.”
“Nigeria, with its unmatched population of over 240 million people, has made you a beloved Ambassador. I implore you to stay away from politics and continue to excel in the entertainment industry,” he added.
Akpabio further expressed the government’s commitment to supporting talented individuals like Davido, emphasizing the importance of patience and prayers for success.
He advised, “Please continue to maintain your high ethical standards. The unfortunate events unfolding in America with some black stars serve as a reminder to be cautious of negative peer influence. Stay focused and continue to give your best.”
“The entertainment industry is like a pyramid. You start from the bottom and work your way up. Once you reach the top, your goal is to remain there. Walking a tightrope requires balance, and your duty is to maintain your position,” Akpabio elaborated.
“We pray for God’s sustenance and that He continues to bless you with wisdom and talent, enabling you to continue making Nigeria proud. We are truly proud of you,” he concluded.
Davido expressed his gratitude to Akpabio for his past hospitality, recalling the times when the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Minister hosted him and his team.
He also informed the Senate President about his Foundation, which primarily focuses on providing assistance to orphanages, and shared exciting news about his upcoming album scheduled for release in June or July.
“As for me, I am doing my part. Through my Foundation, I contribute between N300 million and N400 million annually to orphanages, aiming to assist society as best as I can. Additionally, we have a new album coming out in June or July. I sincerely thank you for everything you have done for us,” Davido expressed his gratitude.
