The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, pays a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr Mahmud Tukur by renaming the prominent Abuja road in Yola Town, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State after him.

Previously known as Lamido Sanda Road, the road had been renamed during the tenure of the late Lamido of Adamawa, HRH Aliyu Mustapha, from Abuja road. However, Governor Fintiri has officially renamed it in honour of Mahmud Tukur.

Recognizing an Accomplished Scholar and Humanitarian

Dr Mahmud Tukur was widely acclaimed for his scholarly achievements, humanitarian efforts, and strong principles. As an elder statesman, Governor Fintiri chooses to preserve and honour his virtues by bestowing his name upon a prominent road in Adamawa State.

A Distinguished Public Servant

Having served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry during the Military regime of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr Mahmud Tukur passed away in 2021 at his residence in Abuja. His selfless dedication to the state and the nation left an indelible mark.

Dr Mahmud Tukur Road: An Enduring Tribute

Mrs Alice Ambrose Gombe Yola, the town planner of the Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Development Board, confirms the official renaming of the road to Dr Mahmud Tukur Road.

She highlights Dr Mahmud Tukur’s exceptional contributions and emphasizes that immortalizing him through this gesture ensures his lasting remembrance.
