The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, visited the Onitsha Central Mosque in Anambra state on Easter Sunday to pray for a united Nigeria.

Obi stated that the visit was necessary to demonstrate the commitment of all religions to the unity and growth of Nigeria.

In a post on his social media handle, Obi wrote, “Continuing my Easter activities today, after sharing Easter joys with the inmates of Onitsha Correctional Centre earlier in the day, I also visited the Central Mosque, Onitsha, to pray with the Muslim Community in the City who are observing the last ten days of Ramadan fasting.

“It was heartwarming to see how they judiciously utilized the resources I provided last year for the renovation of their mosque.

“I took the opportunity to remind them, and indeed every Nigerian, of the importance of transcending religious and tribal divides, and instead, fostering unity and brotherly love to work tirelessly for the development of our nation.

“Our nation’s numerous challenges can be overcome through unified efforts, collaboration, and mutual respect. As I have always emphasized, no religion, tribe, or political party enjoys cheaper food prices anywhere in Nigeria.

Therefore, we must come together to transition our nation from consumption to production for the betterment of society.

“I shared some Easter gifts with the community and expressed gratitude for their kind words, encouragement, and prayers. Together, as one, we will build the New Nigeria.”
