Davido, aka David Adeleke, takes centre stage at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York during his ‘Timeless’ North America tour scheduled for 2024.
Davido, a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, is gearing up for his groundbreaking concert at Madison Square Garden (MSG), the renowned 20000-capacity multi-purpose indoor arena nestled in Midtown Manhattan, New York.
The MSG, also known as The Garden, has a rich history of hosting various events from sports to entertainment, including basketball, boxing, concerts, and wrestling.
In an exciting social media announcement, Davido revealed the tour dates, with the main event scheduled for April 17 at MSG.
Following this, he will grace Montreal’s Place Bell with his performance two days later and conclude the tour with a spectacular finale at Orlando’s Additional Financial Arena on April 24.
The singer expressed his elation, stating, “It is a dream come true” to headline a concert at this iconic venue.
Reflecting on the journey, Davido shared his vision from seven years ago when he walked past Madison Square Garden and vowed to return to shut it down.
Now, with the opportunity to play MSG, he sees it as a realization of that dream.
Davido will join the league of Nigerian heavyweights, including Wizkid (November 2022) and Burna Boy (April 2022), who have captivated audiences at the legendary MSG.
The trio’s collective impact underscores the global recognition of Nigerian music.
Davido’s album, ‘Timeless,’ has marked a victorious year, garnering millions of streams worldwide.
Notably, it secured the 37th spot on the Billboard 200 chart and claimed the 39th spot on Billboard’s prestigious “Top 50 Best Albums of 2023″ list in December.
The album also set a first-day streaming record for an African album on Apple Music.
The acclaim continues as ‘Timeless’ earned Davido his first Grammy nominations for the 2024 awards, in categories like Best Global Album, Best Global Music Performance for ‘Feel,’ and Best African Music Performance for ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys.
Davido recently headlined the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, featuring the Are We Africans Yet (A.W.A.Y) festival, where he shared the stage with stars like Adekunle Gold, Focalistic, Mayorkun, and Lojay.
Davido’s journey began in 2011 with the release of his debut single, ‘Dami Duro.’ Over the years, he has accumulated numerous awards and honors, solidifying his position as a leading force in the African music industry.
