Before his tragic demise, Richard, a prominent figure in Arochukwu Local Government Area, expressed his despair on social media, declaring his last day on earth.

He acknowledged popular friends and, in a distressing Facebook chat, revealed the grim reality of using 2.5 million naira for a bet, with 1.2 million borrowed a debt that loomed ominously over him.

Attributing his plunge into gambling to unemployment, Richard confided in a friend that death seemed the only escape from the shame of facing his debtor.

This heart-wrenching revelation casts a somber light on the harsh realities individuals face amidst financial struggles.

The news of Richard’s suicide sent shockwaves through his community, prompting reflection on the societal factors that lead individuals to such desperate acts.

Many of his followers and friends expressed sorrow and disbelief, contending that he chose a tragic path to resolve his financial woes.

No official statement from the family has been issued, and it remains unclear whether the matter has been reported to the police for investigation.

The spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, is yet to respond to inquiries, leaving the circumstances surrounding Richard’s death shrouded in mystery.
